My Bronze Award
My troop 3139 chose to fill backpacks for Freedom House . The backpacks were for 6-12 year old boys and girls for Christmas. Freedom House helps people who are poor or home less. The children may not get anything else for Christmas.
First we made plans at 1 of our meetings. We made posters to put up. I put mine up at Grace Baptist Church where I go. Our leaders made flyers for us to hand out. We were able to put a poster in school so other kids could donate. Mr.Austin allowed us to put a flyer in everyone’s Friday folder. On Saturday November 12th, from 10 am to 2 pm we handed out flyers in front of Walmart. We had buckets to collect donations. Lots of people gave us donations and money to help us. At the Girl Scout Christmas party at Robious on December 9th each girl was asked to bring a toy, books, or other things for our backpacks.
On December 8th that night, I shopped with some of my troop at Walmart to buy some things to finish off the backpacks. On December 11th we met at Redeemer Church and assembled the backpacks We had 82 in all because so many people were generous. We loaded them into our leaders and delivered them to Freedom House on December 12th.
On Christmas Day, my family and I worked at Freedom House and saw our backpacks being given to boys and girls. I felt thankful for what I have and changed by the people I met. It felt good to help people and children less fortunate than I am. I am grateful to have met them.

Your 3 Words Reflection
My 3 words: Green, Change, Future
Why these three words are important because: They are important to me because green, change, and future have one thing in common. The thing they have in common is the next generation of kids. Cause everything we do now to the earth will effect the next generation of kids later on. Change is happening all the time. Like in social media, our life, and our future. Green is a color but it is our environment to. We have the chance to make this world more a greener place. Future is something that will exist or happen in time to come. Our future is the rest of our life and the choices we make now will guide us to who we will become in the future.
These 3 words connect to our expedition because: I connect change to our expedition because on the first day we went on a gallery walk. On the gallery walk we saw Polaroid instant film, typewriter, touch screen phones and DVD player. The theme to the first day was Then Vs Now and how the items on the table change over time. Also I connected change to shifting baselines because shifting baselines is change but it is a constant change that will never be the same again. I connected green to Someday A Tree by Eve Bunting that we read in class on the fourth day of expedition. Someday A Tree was about a kid with country life describes her and her community’s effort to preserve a tree. Touches on themes of environmentalism, as a special, old tree is killed by someone dumping chemicals illegally. I connect future with Mrs.Poppell presentation and the letter I wrote to her a letter. The one thing that I loved she said was what people do on land effects the ocean and it relates to what we do now can effect the future. On how I feel in the conclusion of my letter I wrote I feel like we, the next generation of kids, can make a difference starting now rather then waiting for a next time because we might not have a next time. That is how the future relate to Mrs. Poppell.
Explain how your presentation(props ,action ,backdrop) your 3 words (sign) told: My backdrop told everything we learned from our expedition. I wanted to make a collage and a bright color poster board to make it pop. I tried to find every single picture form what we learned. My signs told that the world will change but the place won’t be greener for our future. I didn’t practice in the the mirror because I was working to make my backdrop prefect. If I could redo this I would of practice because I wasn’t focus when the camera was on me.
